MM9624 assignment of forests in the age of climate change. - Aerial photographs from Helicopter over sites of Aspen Dieback north of Grande Prairie Alberta. -Devin Letourneau - please see below and do not quote - guided the flights to specific sites of Aspen Dieback. -Assignment looking at Aspen Dieback in areas near Grande Prairie Norhtern Alberta. Prolonged drought as a result of climate change has made these aspen forests susceptible to many pests and other threats. Tent caterpillars are though to be a major cause of Aspen Dieback but research is still relatively recent and there is much that is still not known. Aspen become insreasing unhealthty losing their leaves, breaking off, and eventually dying and falling. -Suggest that final image selections and cutlines should be checked with the Alberta provinces forest health officer Contact: Devin Letourneau 780 538-5609, cell 780 512 5394 devin.letourneau@gov.ab.ca. -Devin very kindly and generously guided me but did not have official permission from his emplyers with the government of Alberta so he should not be quoted nor should should the information he has shared be attributed to him.
