Scene just outside of Barriere B.C. In 2003, a massive forest fire caused massive damage and evacuations in Barriere, McClure, Louis Creek, and surrounding areas. This Summers - 2017 - wildfires in this same region underscores the increasing risk wildfires, exacerbated by climate change, are to British Columbia. Somewhat ironically, the proposed Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline - which would encourage fossil fuel production and consumption, and further exacerbate global warming - would run just a few kilometres west of this corridor.
