Clearcut logging from 2019-2021 of ancient coastal temperate rainforest. A large and remote clearcut of what is rapidly diminishing ancient coastal temperate rainforest. Recent logging in the Caycuse region near Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. With the valley bottoms of these valuable and rare old growth forests consisting of Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Western Red and Yellow Cedar, and Sitka Spruce up to 300 to 1000 years old, and with the largest of these trees up to 15 feet in diameter and 200 feet tall, now mostly all clearcut, logging companies are now focusing on the most remote, high elevation and steep slope forests as they are virually all that is now left of these forests.
